PostSubject: Major overhaul of site system   Mon Oct 15, 2012 12:09 am

Alright folks, we've had our title as RPG for three years well only being a RP site, today that's gonna change.

Below are two new systems, we're going to put in the later one no mater the result of this poll, however the first one is up for discussion.

Option One: With every post you do you will gain a single point.
These points can be used for a wide range of things, in short, they're used when requesting things. This can range from permission for a next level of a power (explained in Option two) to the strength and number of powers you wish to start with.

In example, your profile has been rejected due to you having a power that's to strong and the mods want you to scale it down or remove it, you then make a post in your creation topic going;

Quote :
Sacrificing 250 points for power.

The mod will then either accept it or lower the amount they want it to be scaled back by, the more points you spend the bigger the result (unless of course the powers just stupid strong).

Everyone would of course start at zero, meaning someone like myself couldn't just spend two-thousand points on something idiotic.

Option Two:
To put it simply when you create your profile you will be able to have each power start at 1 out of 10, with each level getting more powerful.
Quote:

Quote :
Strength lvl one: Strength is equal to two normal people
Strength lvl two: Strength is equal to three normal people
Strength lvl three: Strength is equal to four normal people
Strength lvl four: Strength is equal to six normal people
Strength lvl five: Strength is equal to eight normal people
Strength lvl six: Strength is equal to ten normal people
Strength lvl seven: Strength is equal to fifteen normal people
Strength lvl eight: Strength is equal to twenty normal people
Strength lvl nine: Strength is equal to twenty-five normal people
Strength lvl ten: Strength is equal to forty normal people

Each level would take a five point training to get to.

Point training would be given out on decent posts as long as they state they're doing point training. For instance a three paragraph post would get a 2, but it's always quality over quantity.

Everyone can get to level five with normal point training, however you have to apply (in template changes?) to be able to get to higher levels as well as point training.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask them now, or I will simply neglect you later and send you to Amy.

I'm confused on how the point training thing works, under option 2. Could you go into a little more detail explaining this topic?

Quite honestly, I don't understand this at all. And so far, I'm not very fond of this idea...

A user would simply have to have [Rank training] at the start of the post(s), a moderator would then be able to give the user points depending on the quality of a post, in example it could take ten posts to get five points or just three.

It simply allows for stronger character over time.

I'm not sure I understand how the strength levels work... does that mean that a character becomes physically stronger with each level they get? And, assuming so, I have other questions.

Firstly, does each character or each user get strength levels?

Secondly, what if someone makes a character that has a power like super strength. Do they become even stronger with each level or are they totally unaffected by the strength levels? Or, what about the opposite; if there's a character where having extreme strength would throw off the dynamic of the character.

Thirdly, can the levels do something else? Like, rather than strength, if your character doesn't need strength or strength would hurt the way the character works, can if be Speed or Agility or Balance, etc Levels? Or can the levels just be looked at as influence; i.e, suggestions or whatnot will be considered more strongly or if there's something that needs a tie broken the higher level will be considered first??

Also, I'm worried that if every character can have access to such extreme physical prowess that we'll end up with a bunch or over-powered Mary-Sue characters running around and that would really reallly really annoy me. I can't stand OP characters and I try to make an effort to never be the annoying unstoppable, super beautiful amazing, fantastic, genuis running around. The whole strength doubling thing makes me worry that that will happen.

Again, I'm not sure I quite understood the levels in the first place, though, so my points might all be invalid.

Finn's idea actually counteracts this.

anyone who can write good enough to get those level ups. Would have to be smart enough to write that well, which means they would be intellectually capable of realizing they werent invincible. and to make things fun for everyone.
And if they didnt.
Im sure we could always work something out like a level down for bad posts.

That power list was simply for a character with super strength.

If your power was, say, teleportation then the distance you would be able to teleport goes up each time, or if it was pyrokinesis it would be the heat of the fire.

So if you hadn't leveled up before, you would have cold fire?

If that's what you wanted, I guess.
Your fire would simply not be as hot as say, a level six's but still fire.
